Frequently asked questions

Quick answers before you start.

How do I calculate a discount?

Multiply the original price by the discount percentage and divide by 100 to get the saving, then subtract it from the price. A 25% discount on 2,000 is 2,000 × 25 ÷ 100 = 500 off, so you pay 1,500.

What is the final price formula?

Final price = original price × (1 − discount ÷ 100). At 25% off that is original × 0.75 — the same as finding the saving and subtracting it, just in one step.

Do stacked discounts add up?

No. 25% off then a further 10% off is not 35% off — it is 1 − (0.75 × 0.9) = 32.5% off. The second discount applies to the already-reduced price, so the combined saving is always less than the sum.
