How to add a calculator to Shopify
Shopify's rich text editor won't accept an iframe, so the trick is a Custom Liquid section — a block that takes raw HTML inside the theme editor. That's where a Plainso calculator goes, on any page or product template.
Step by step
Copy the embed snippet
Open the calculator you want on your store and copy the one-line iframe code from its embed section.
Open the theme editor
In your Shopify admin go to Online Store → Themes → Customize to open the theme editor.
Add a Custom Liquid section
Open the template for the page or product, click Add section, and choose Custom Liquid.
Paste the snippet
Paste the iframe snippet into the Custom Liquid field. HTML goes in exactly as copied — no Liquid tags needed.
Save
Click Save. The calculator is live on the storefront immediately.

Good to know
- The Shopify rich text editor strips iframes — always use a Custom Liquid section, not the page body editor.
- You can add the same Custom Liquid section to a product template to put a calculator right next to the buy button.
- Custom Liquid sections are available on all Shopify themes, including Online Store 2.0 themes.
Frequently asked questions
Quick answers before you start.
Do I need a Shopify calculator app?
No. A Custom Liquid section handles an iframe without any app, so there's nothing to install, no monthly fee, and no app that can slow your storefront down.
Where can I place a calculator in Shopify?
Anywhere that accepts a section: a regular page, a product template, a landing page, or the homepage. If the location has Add section, it can hold the Custom Liquid block.
Will the calculator slow down my store?
Minimally. It loads in an iframe with lazy loading, so it only loads when a visitor scrolls to it, and it runs entirely in the browser with no calls to your store's servers.
